چکیده

The experimentally obtained data, growth curve, percentage of labeled mitoses curves, and continuous labeling curves have been analyzed by means of a computer method based on alternative mathematical models for the cell kinetics. The experimental doubling time determined from the growth curve is 10, 25, and 75 hr in the 5-, 6-, and 8-day tumors, respectively. From the models, growth fractions of 1.0, 0.96, and 0.56, respectively, are calculated for the same tumor ages. The calculated mean cell cycle time increases from 13.0 to 21.9 hr from Day 5 to 6, due to a proportional increase in the mean transit times of all phases in the cell cycle. In the 8-day tumor the mean cell cycle time surprisingly decreases to 15.3 hr and TQI becomes unappreciable. The cell loss is undetectable in the 5-day tumor, 0.1%/hr in the 6-day tumor, and 2.5%/hr in the 8-day tumor. The analysis makes it probable that the mode of cell loss is an age-specific elimination of noncycling cells with postmitotic DNA content.

Kinetics of Proliferation, Migration, and Death of L 1210 Ascites Cells1

i.p. into new, nonradioactive hosts. The overall growth rate of the prelabeled L1210 cells was evaluated in terms of cell cycle length, growth fraction, and cell loss due to cell migration and cell death. Following implantation into a new host, there was a 6to 12-hr lag period before peritoneal LI 210 cells started to divide. During the first 3 days of tumor growth, the average generation time ...

Investigation of NK Cell Population in Peripheral Blood and Tumor Lesions of Patients with Breast Cancer

Background: Alteration in peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) is usually investigated to provide an evidence of the host immune responses to tumor antigens. The tumor infiltrating NK cells interact most closely with the tumor cells and more accurately reflect tumor host interactions. Objective: To analyze peripheral blood and tumor associated Natural Killer (NK) cells in patients with breast ca...

Antitumor Activity and In Vivo Antioxidant Status of Mucuna Pruriens (Fabaceae) Seeds against Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma in Swiss Albino Mice

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the antitumor effect and antioxidant role of Mucuna pruriens (Family: Fabaceae) against EAC bearing Swiss albino mice. The effect of methanol extract of Mucuna pruriens (MEMP) on tumor growth and hosts survival time was studied by the following parameters: tu-mor volume, packed cell volume, viable and non-viable cell count and life span of the host. M...
